1. 집 묘사 (Description)

[Question] Can you describe your house in detail? What does it look like?

[Answer] "Basically, I live in a modern and cozy two-bedroom apartment located in a quiet residential area. It’s not the biggest place in the world, but it’s perfect for my current lifestyle.

When you first walk in, the first thing you notice is the large window in the living room that lets in(들여 보내다) a lot of natural light. It really makes the whole place feel bright and airy(공기가 통하는, 가벼운). Right next to the living room is a small but functional kitchen where I spend a lot of time cooking. I have two bedrooms—one is my main sleeping area, and the other one is my dedicated home office where I handle all my work and studies.

My favorite part of the house is definitely the living room couch. It’s incredibly soft, and I love lounging there while watching Netflix. I've decorated the place with a few indoor plants and some warm-toned paintings to give it a more 'homey' vibe. Overall, my house is my sanctuary where I can fully unwind after a long day. It’s simple, clean, and exactly what I need right now."

2. 주중/주말 루틴 (Routine)

[Question] Tell me about your daily routine at home. What do you do on weekdays and weekends?

[Answer] "I’d say my home routine is quite consistent, but there’s a big contrast between my busy weekdays and my relaxing weekends.

During the week, my morning starts pretty early. The first thing I do is head to the kitchen to make a strong cup of coffee. That’s my fuel for the day, you know? Since I work from home quite often, I spend most of my day in my home office. I try to take short breaks every hour to stretch or grab a snack.

After finishing work around 6 PM, I usually spend about 30 minutes doing some light housework like laundry or vacuuming to keep things organized.

On the weekends, however, my routine is much more laid-back. I love sleeping in until 10 or 11 AM. Once I’m up, I usually have a long, slow brunch while listening to some chill music. Saturday afternoons are dedicated to 'deep cleaning' the house, which makes me feel really productive.

In the evenings, I usually order some takeout and binge(몰아서)-watch a TV series on the couch. It’s all about recharging my batteries for the upcoming week."

3. 집에서 문제 생긴 경험 (House Problems)

[Question] Have you ever had a problem with your home? What was it, and how did you handle it?

[Answer] "I actually had a bit of a nightmare scenario last summer when my air conditioner suddenly broke down in the middle of a heatwave. It was probably the most uncomfortable experience I've had at home.

It happened on a Friday evening. I came home from work, and it was scorching(불에 타는 듯한) hot outside. When I tried to turn on the AC, nothing happened—just a weird clicking sound. I felt so frustrated because the temperature inside was rising rapidly. I immediately called the repair service, but since it was the peak of summer, they told me they couldn't come until Monday.

I had to survive the entire weekend with just a tiny electric fan and lots of ice water. I barely got any sleep because it was so humid. When the technician finally arrived on Monday, he found out that the motor had burned out. He replaced it within an hour, and when that cold air finally started blowing again, I felt like I was in heaven! That experience taught me to always get my appliances checked before the extreme seasons start."

4. 국내 여행지 묘사 (Travel Description)

* 묘사는 주로 현재 시제

[Question] Tell me about the popular travel destinations in your country. What are they like?

[Answer] "In my opinion, the most popular and iconic travel destination in Korea is definitely Jeju Island. It’s often called the 'Hawaii of Korea' because of its unique volcanic landscapes and beautiful beaches.

Jeju is an island located off the southern coast, and it has a very different vibe compared to the mainland. You can see emerald-colored oceans, black volcanic rocks, and a massive mountain in the center called Hallasan. It’s a place where you can enjoy both the mountains and the sea at the same time.

Apart from the natural scenery, Jeju is famous for its amazing food, especially the fresh seafood and black pork. There are also tons of trendy cafes with ocean views that are very popular on social media. People go there year-round(연중 계속되는) to hike, surf, or just relax. Whether you are looking for an adventurous trip or a peaceful getaway(도주, 휴가), Jeju has something for everyone. It’s truly a must-visit spot if you’re traveling within Korea."

5. 국내 여행 첫 번째 장소 (First Trip)

* 경험은 과거 시제로

[Question] Can you remember the very first domestic trip you took? Where did you go and who were you with?

[Answer] "If I recall correctly, my first memorable domestic trip was a family vacation to Gangneung when I was about seven or eight years old. Gangneung is a beautiful coastal city on the eastern side of Korea.

I remember being so excited the night before that I couldn't even sleep. We left very early in the morning to beat the traffic. When we finally arrived at Gyeongpo Beach, I was blown away by how blue and vast(어마어마한) the ocean was. Since it was my first time seeing the sea, I spent the whole day just running around on the sand and splashing in the water with my younger brother.

My dad even helped us build a huge sandcastle, though it got washed away by the waves pretty quickly. For dinner, we went to a local market and had grilled fish, which was absolutely delicious. Looking back, that trip was quite simple, but it’s one of my fondest(가장 애정하는) childhood memories because the whole family was together and happy. It’s probably the reason why I still love visiting the ocean whenever I feel stressed."

6. 기억에 남는 경험 (Memorable Experience)

[Question] Tell me about a memorable or unexpected experience you had while traveling in your country.

[Answer] "I’ll never forget the time I went on a hiking trip to Seoraksan Mountain and got completely soaked because of an unexpected rainstorm.

It was a couple of years ago in the fall. The weather forecast said it would be sunny all day, so my friends and I didn't bother bringing any umbrellas or raincoats. We were halfway up the mountain, enjoying the beautiful autumn leaves, when suddenly the sky turned pitch black(칠흙같이 어두운). Out of nowhere(어디선지 모르게), it started pouring!

We had nowhere to hide, so we had to hike all the way back down in the rain. We were shivering and our shoes were filled with water. We must have looked like a bunch of drowned rats! However, once we got to the bottom, we found a small traditional restaurant and ordered some hot potato pancakes and warm tea. Sitting there, warming up while watching the rain fall outside, actually turned out to be quite romantic and cozy. What started as a disaster became a hilarious story that we still talk about today."

Theme 3: Restaurant Combo (레스토랑)

7-1. 레스토랑 묘사 (Description)

[Question] Describe your favorite restaurant. What kind of food do they serve?

[Answer] "My absolute favorite place to eat is a small Italian bistro called 'Bella's' located in my neighborhood. It’s a hidden gem that not many people know about, which makes it even more special.

The restaurant has a very intimate and rustic(시골 특유의 소박한) atmosphere, with wooden tables and dim lighting. It’s perfect for a quiet dinner. They specialize in handmade pasta and wood-fired(장작불로 요리한) pizzas. My go-to dish is their 'Truffle Cream Pasta'—the aroma is just incredible, and the sauce is so rich and flavorful.

Another thing I love about this place is the service. The owner is also the main chef, and she always comes out to greet the customers and ask how the food is. It feels like you're being invited to someone's home rather than just a commercial restaurant. Whenever I have something to celebrate, or even when I just want to treat myself(나에게 보상하다, 나에게 한턱내다), 'Bella's' is the first place that comes to mind."

7-2. 레스토랑 방문 습관 (Explanation)

[Question] When do you usually go to restaurants and who do you go with?

[Answer] "Generally speaking, I go out to eat about twice a week, usually on Friday nights or during the weekend.

On weekdays, I’m typically too tired to cook or go out, so I mostly eat at home. But once Friday rolls around(~가 되면), I love to meet up with my friends to catch up over a good meal. We usually look for trendy spots in the city center—places that serve K-BBQ or spicy stews. It’s our way of blowing off steam after a long work week.

On Sundays, I often go to a nice brunch cafe with my family. We prefer places that are quiet and have a lot of greenery(화초). Since my parents are quite health-conscious, we usually look for restaurants that use organic ingredients or serve fresh salads. So, while my Friday dinners are more about social energy and loud environments, my Sunday lunches are much more relaxed and family-oriented. It’s a nice balance that keeps my social life interesting."

7-3. 레스토랑에서 겪은 경험 (Experience)

[Question] Tell me about a time you had an issue or a memorable event at a restaurant.

[Answer] "I remember a time when I went to a high-end steakhouse for my birthday, but they accidentally mixed up my order and gave me the wrong dish.

I had ordered a medium-rare ribeye steak, but when the server brought the plate, it was a seafood pasta. I was a bit confused at first, but the place was packed(사람들이 꽉 찼다), so I figured they were just overwhelmed(너무 많은 일로 어쩔 줄을 모르다). I politely told the waiter about the mistake. He was incredibly apologetic and took the dish back immediately.

To make up for the error, the manager came over and offered me a free glass of wine and a complimentary dessert. When my steak finally arrived, it was cooked to perfection—probably the best steak I’ve ever had! Even though there was a bit of a hiccup(사소한 문제) at the start, the way they handled the situation was so professional and kind that it actually made my birthday dinner even more memorable. It taught me that good service can turn a negative situation into a positive one."

Theme 4: Hiking Roleplay (하이킹 롤플레잉)

8-1. 친구에게 하이킹 정보 묻기 (Inquiry)

[Question] You are planning a hiking trip with a friend. Call your friend and ask three or four questions about the trip.

[Answer] "Hi, Minsoo! It’s [Your Name]. I’m so excited about our hiking trip this weekend! I just wanted to call and clarify a few things before we go.

First off(우선), what time should we meet at the mountain entrance? I want to make sure I leave early enough to avoid the morning traffic. Second, how difficult is the trail we're taking? Should I bring my heavy-duty hiking boots, or will regular sneakers be okay?

Also, are there any places to buy food or water near the summit, or should I pack a full lunch in my backpack?

Lastly, do you think we'll be back by dinner time? I have a small family gathering in the evening, so I just want to plan ahead. Let me know when you have a chance. Thanks, buddy!"

8-2. 문제 상황 대처하기 (Adjustment)

[Question] A problem has occurred. You found out the weather will be terrible on the day of the hike. Call your friend, explain the situation, and suggest two alternatives.

[Answer] "Hey, Minsoo. I have some bad news. I just checked the weather forecast for Saturday, and it says there’s going to be a massive thunderstorm all day.

Hiking in that kind of weather would be pretty dangerous and definitely not much fun, right? So, I think we should probably cancel the hike for now. Instead, how about we go to that new indoor climbing gym in the city center? I’ve heard it’s a great workout and it'll keep us dry.

Alternatively, if you’re not in the mood for exercise, we could just meet up at a nice cafe and watch a movie together. There’s a blockbuster I’ve been dying to see. What do you think? I'm really sorry for the sudden change of plans, but safety first, you know? Let me know which option you prefer!"

8-3. 비슷한 경험 이야기하기 (Personal Experience)

[Question] Have you ever had to cancel plans due to bad weather or an unexpected event? Tell me about it.

[Answer] "Actually, I had a very similar experience last year when I planned a picnic at the Han River with my coworkers.

We had been planning it for weeks and everyone was really looking forward to it. We even ordered a bunch of fried chicken and snacks in advance. On the day of the picnic, the sky was perfectly clear in the morning. But just as we arrived at the park and started laying out our mats, it suddenly started to drizzle(보슬비가 내리다). Within ten minutes, it became a total downpour.

We were so disappointed, but we didn't want to ruin the day. So, we quickly decided to move the party to one of my colleague's apartments nearby. We ended up having the 'picnic' on his living room floor! Surprisingly, it was even more fun because we could play board games and talk comfortably without the wind blowing everything away. It taught me that even if your original plans get ruined by the weather, you can still have a great time if you're with the right people."
